The Catalink Network launched the first UK mail order portal – www.catalink.com -  in 1999, introducing many of its early catalogue clients to its services by sending screen shots of the website by fax! In 2003, due to the obvious popularity of the original Catalink holiday section, www.travelbrochures.co.uk was introduced as a standalone website.

Our mission has always been to create the best possible central resource for the direct mail order and holiday industries as we possibly can, providing an ideal place for consumer to meet merchant. And have we achieved that? Well, it’s early-2008, there are more than 1000 Catalink clients and eight hundred and fifty thousand members – we must be doing something right!

ABOUT OUR MEMBERS

Over the years we have noticed that many of our 850,000 consumer members are returning even more regularly to the sites. Finding a catalogue or brochure to meet their next home shopping/holiday need; using Catalink as their natural link to merchants’ websites or simply looking around to see what’s new.

From our polls, we have discovered that Catalink consumers are keen “greens” who:

• prefer to shop from home rather than drive to the high street
• value quality time with their families and use home shopping to maximise that time
• use the internet to order from their catalogues
• book holidays online but make their selections from a brochure

From our records, we note that members are keen to tell their friends about Catalink – more than 30% of our new members are recommended by a friend.
